First Steps!

I know I'm going to sound like a crazy mom, but the past couple of weeks I have been so anxious for Lexi to start walking. She started standing unassisted awhile ago and I thought it was only a matter of time before she would start to walk. Then last week it seemed like she was no longer interested in standing, so I felt like we were taking a step backwards. To make matters worse, there is a 10 month old tiny little girl at daycare that is already walking! I know, I know, you can't compare babies but it's soooo hard not to! I just really wanted Alexa to start walking by her first birthday, which is only a 2 weeks away so there isn't much time! Well, after thinking about it and talking to some people, I realized how ridiculous I was being and Alexa would walk when she was ready. So I decided not to pressure her anymore.

Brian and I got back from a weekend trip today and low and behold tonight she took her first steps! Well...I can't be sure they were her first steps :-) I have a sneaking suspicion that she may have taken her first steps while staying at Grandma's and Grandpa's over the weekend and they are just too nice to break my heart that I might have missed it! But regardless, she walked tonight! First, was when Brian was at the grocery store and she took two steps towards me. Then, when Brian got home he got to see her do it again. I posted a video of that. It's not the best one because of course all the good ones I couldn't get her to do on video! She's by no means proficient yet, but it's progress. I've decided I'm not going to push it and I'll let her tell me when she wants to walk. I may still hope that she's walking by her first birthday though :-)

Stair climbing

Lexi has now learned how to go back down the stairs all on her own! She's still not proficient enough for me to feel comfortable leaving her alone to do it but she's pretty good. It's crazy how they just pick up these things without even showing them!

Walking.....with assistance :-)

Just had to post a quick video of Lexi's newest adventure. We bought her a little car/walker around Easter but she only liked to ride around on it rather than push it to walk. About a week ago she finally started using it to walk around. She's also standing for longer and longer on her own. Saturday she stood for almost a minute! And yesterday she was standing and I could tell she wanted to walk over to her car so bad but she just couldn't get the courage to do it! Hopefully any day now!
