Mother's Day

Mother's Day was extra special this year since it was the first with both kids!  We had a perfect weekend.  First we had Lexi's Tumblebus show, then we had dinner with my family on Saturday.  Then Sunday we hung out with Brian's family.  The weather was absolutely beautiful!  Our Mother's day/Father's day presents were bikes.  We attached carriers for the kids to each bike (with Pa's help!) and went for our first of many bike rides on Mother's day.  The kids loved it!  Except Lexi hadn't taken a nap so she ended up falling asleep within 10 minutes, so we had to cut the ride short.  We've been going on bike rides almost every day since then though.  Sometimes Keaton falls asleep but I think he really enjoys the rides.  We biked up to Dairy Queen the other day (about a 5 mile ride) and then Culver's another night so now Lexi thinks every time we go for a bike ride we're going to get ice cream!  I don't feel as bad about eating the ice cream though since I had to work to get it!  Here's a couple pics of the kids on the new bikes:

Here's a few pics of Lexi playing with Daddy and Uncle Kyle on Mother's Day:

Lexi's Tumblebus Show

Over Mother's Day weekend Lexi had her "Tumblebus Show".  The Tumblebus is basically a school bus that's been converted into a gymnastics center and it goes to the various daycares around the area once a week for the kids to learn gymnastics/tumbling.  They have a show with all the kids from all daycares where they perform a ribbon routine, an aerobic routine, and then do a gymnastics obstacle course.  This was Lexi's first event like this so we were super excited!  Nana, Aunt Nikki, Aunt Stacy, Taylor, GG, and Pa all came to watch.

I wasn't sure how Lexi would do (since she's not very good at taking directions) but surprisingly she did really well!  It was amazing how many kids were in the show and how well the instructors kept them in line and moving (for the most part).  Lexi had one minor melt down when I made the mistake of going out to her during a break in the show to remove the wedgie she had with her leotard!  I thought I could quickly do it and run back but she started following me and then started crying when she couldn't come with me.  So she stubbornly refused to do the aerobic routine.  But then rebounded and completed the obstacle course.  She certainly wasn't the only child crying though!  What do you expect with a group of toddlers!  We were so proud of her performance though!  She even got a trophy (all the kids did).  Here's some pics from the show:

8 Month Update

I haven't been great about writing down milestones or sayings the last month so I'll have to try to do this from memory.  A little after my last post on Keaton he showed that he was able to stand while holding onto something.  He's been doing great with that ever since.  No progress on the crawling front though even with using food as bribery!

Keaton is an eating machine!  He's liking his bottles less and less but loves his baby food and he got a taste of his first table food.  I gave him a little bread in tiny little pieces and he loved it!  I might try mashed potatoes or some other soft food in the coming weeks.  He's definitely ready because he's always grabbing for my food!

We all got the flu bug this past week.  It started with Keaton on Tuesday night and into Wednesday.  Then Thursday night Lexi started with it and a few hours later it was my turn.  Then Brian took a turn Friday night along with both of his parents.  Luckily it was a 24 hour bug so while it was awful, it was quick and we're all feeling much better!

Today was hot so we broke out a little wading pool I had bought.  Lexi loved it...Keaton hated it.  Apparently he does not like the water!  He's been doing fine with his baths but he's still in his baby tub that goes in the big tub.  I tried to put him in the pool today and he freaked out! If I even got near it while I was holding him he tensed up.  I tried getting in with him but he still wasn't happy.  Brian tried giving him a bath tonight without the tub and Keaton was freaking out again!  He cried (screamed) the whole time!  Poor guy!  It's going to be a long summer if he doesn't like the pool!

Florida Trip

I'm a month late on posting about our Florida trip, but what can I say...life got in the way!  Over Easter weekend Brian and I took Lexi on a 3 night trip to Orlando.  This was her second time to Florida, but her first time she was only 9 months old so there wasn't really much she could do.  I had really wanted to take her again because I know how much she loves everything Disney!  We considered taking Keaton with but ultimately decided it would be best for everyone if he stayed home with GG and Pa.

The plane rides were definitely not as easy as the first time.  You would think it would get easier but she didn't want to sleep or watch a movie and she was not happy about wearing her seat belt.  But even though, there were certainly kids that were worse than her on the plane!  Once we got to Florida the trip was overall really fun!  We had rented a house, which was nice to have all that extra space to run around.  The house also had a pool so we were able to swim whenever we wanted.  The first night we went to Downtown Disney and Lexi got to see lots of Disney characters, but just statutes not actual people.  There was a band performing though and she loved dancing!  That was definitely the highlight of the night.

The next day we went to Magic Kingdom and Lexi was in heaven.  We got to ride several of the rides including Dumbo, Buzz Lightyear, and Winnie the Pooh.  One of my favorites was a 3D show that featured snippets from all of my favorite kid's movies like the Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Aladdin.  We actually stumbled into that one by mistake but we all ended up loving it!  Lexi got to dance with Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch) and I think that was her favorite...well maybe next to meeting Rapunzel!  Brian stood in line for us for about an hour and half so Lexi could meet and get her picture taken with Rapunzel.  I know she loved it but you wouldn't be able to tell from her face!  Lexi got tired by about 3pm and actually fell asleep right when the parade was starting!  We left the park but then headed back around 8pm.  We got to see the Electrical parade, which wasn't as great as the other parade but it was still good.  Lex got to dance once more with Stitch before we headed back for the night.

The next day we went to St. Pete beach.  It was beautiful weather and a beautiful beach!  Lexi loved the ocean and playing in the sand.  She only last a couple hours though and we headed back.  We flew out the next day but got to get one more quick dip in the pool before we left.  I think it was the perfect amount of time for all of us and can't wait to take Keaton back with us next year!  Lexi missed him while we were gone too because she asked every day where brother was!  She saw a picture that GG and Pa had taken of him and she said "Let's go get Keaton."  I think she really liked the one on one time though. Next year should be perfect for the whole family!
