Baby #2 Update - 28 Weeks

So I've been really bad about updating the blog for baby #2....now I know why I don't have a baby book and my sister does :-)  Life is much busier with a 2 year old than it was two years ago when I was pregnant with Alexa!

A few people have asked if this pregnancy is much different than the first.  For the most part, I think it's similar, I just feel like things/symptoms are happening sooner, like sporting a baby bump, feeling uncomfortable, and starting the waddle.  One symptom that I haven't had yet is swollen feet.  I guess I can thank the crappy weather we've been having for that.  It hasn't really been hot enough for my feet to start to swell...but I'm sure it's coming!  Another thing I feel that's better this time is around is I haven't been nauseous nearly as much as I was with Alexa.  I had a little morning sickness in the very beginning but it wasn't that bad.  I'm thinking that one contributing factor is that I'm too busy to even think about feeling sick!  I did find out that he is NOT a fan of apple juice :-)

I've been feeling him kick for quite a few weeks now and they are starting to get stronger.  It's hard to believe that a little 2 pounder can pack such a punch!  Last time I had a sono, he was measuring a few days ahead of schedule.  I have a feeling I won't be pushing out a 6lb baby this time but probably more like a 7lb or 8lb baby!  I'm counting on him being early too...hopefully around September 15th :-)

Last Saturday we went to Little Wonders in Bloomington to have a 3D/4D sonogram.  It was a gift from Brian and definitely worth it to get a real glimpse of what our little guy looks like.  From the pictures, it looks like he has my nose and Brian's mouth.  On the video we could see him opening his mouth and making facial expressions too.  Amazing!

It's hard to believe that I've only got 12 more weeks (hopefully a little less) until we get to meet this little guy!  I'm definitely behind on the preparations this time around though.  His room is not yet painted and we haven't decided on a name yet!  We do have it narrowed down to two, just need to make the final decision.

That's all the updates for now on baby #2...I'll try to do updates at least every couple of weeks so I don't forget stuff!

Lots of updates!

I've been reminded by certain people (you know who you are!) that it's time for me to update the blog!  I definitely have not been as good about updating as I was with Alexa, but hey, I didn't have a 2 year old to run after then either!  Speaking of...she keeps us super busy!  She is constantly on the go and unfortunately I think we've spoiled her a bit too much to where she expects both Mommy and Daddy to be by her side all the time!  She makes us laugh so much though with all the silly things she does!  Some of her latest activities, phrases, and sillyness:

1. Scolding Oscar for anything and everything! Tonight she fell down (of her own fault) but for some reason blamed Oscar. I think she likes to push him around because he's smaller than her.
2. Movie madness:  This girl is obsessed with movies! Her favorites include Toy Story 2 and 3, Tangled, and Ratatouille.  It's been our saving grace for grocery shopping trips and dinners out.
3. "Ice":  This means she wants ice cream or an ice popsicle
4. "Wuv you":  She now tells us she loves us when she goes to bed.  Just melts my heart!
5. Peek-a-boo book:  We started reading this book to her at bedtime one night because she picked it out.  We've been reading it every night since for the last couple of months and now she has it memorized (as do I!). She finishes the sentences as we're reading it.  I need to try to get it on video because it's just so cute!
6. Fruit dip: Alexa loves fruit and one time I gave her some of that cream cheese dip to go with it...from then on she started asking for the dip if I just gave her plain fruit.  Picky picky!
7. Sleeping habits:  For the last couple of months she has been waking up earlier and earlier.  I think one reason is because it's so easy for her to hop out of bed and walk down the hall to our bedroom.  She goes to bed around 7:30 and was waking up around 5:30am.  Finally I decided I needed to retrain her.  My new rule is that she can't get up any earlier than 6:00am and if she does I just walk her back to her bedroom (no more laying in bed with Mommy and Daddy!).  So far it's seemed to help a little.

8. Talking:  Alexa can say so many words now I can't even keep track!  She'll pretty much repeat anything you say but has started developing her own vocabulary too.  Of course she also just babbles and we can only respond by saying "Uh huh honey" because we have no idea what she's saying!

I know there's so much more I'm forgetting!  Here's some of the latest pics of Alexa.  Updates on the baby to come in the next post!
