First Teeth!
When I first started writing this (a couple weeks ago) this was titled "First tooth". Since that time, I had to change it to "teeth" because Keaton has not one but TWO teeth in the bottom middle. They are about half way up and you can't really notice them unless you pull down his bottom lip. He's been teething for at least a couple of months now so we knew one was on its way. If he's anything like Lexi the rest of those teeth will just start popping up!
Big Eater
Keaton definitely eats way more than Lexi did! He's up to 3 containers of baby food in a day plus four 6 to 8 oz bottles. He's still teeny-tiny but you can tell his belly is getting fuller along with his cheeks!
Roly Poly
Keaton is now rolling from tummy to back and vice-versa. If you lay him on the floor he will just keep rolling over. He's doing much better with tummy time now and is acting like he really wants to crawl too! I'm sure it will be another couple of months before he actually starts moving though. Sometimes we catch him rolling in his crib too and he'll occasionally end up sleeping on his tummy.
Sitting Up
Keaton is doing really well at sitting up on his own. We still keep the Boppy around him though because he's not completely steady and will usually topple over at some point.
Interaction
In the last month he has become so much more interactive. He's grabbing for toys and other things he sees that interest him. He loves this musical toy that Uncle Kyle and Aunt Jess had gotten for Lexi when she was little (see pics below). He loves the jumper too. We're finding that we're using the swing less and less these days because he can be entertained by lots of other things. Usually he likes to just lay on the floor and roll around. He seems to be more interested in Lexi too. He watches her a lot...probably thinking she's silly and loud! Ha ha!
Discovery of his Tongue!
Keaton must have just now discovered his tongue! He is sticking it out all the time now and it is so funny! When he eats his baby food he sticks his tongue out after every bite. I tried to get a good pic of him but his eyes closed every time I took a picture (he must get that from his dad!)
Officially Potty Trained!
I'm a little hesitant to say this, but Lex has been doing so great with peeing and POOPING in the toilet that I feel like we can say she's officially potty trained. She now goes to the bathroom all on her own (without us reminding her) and when she goes #2 she does it completely by herself. In fact, that's the only way she'll do it! She has to have her privacy :-) I'm hoping now that she's got the hang of it we won't have any regression!
Best Big Sister!
Lexi has really been the best big sister there could be. She is always so concerned about Keaton and you can just tell she loves him so much. Whenever he cries or fusses a little she freaks out and says "Oh no! Brother's crying Mommy! I'll go get his paci." Every day when we drop the kids off at daycare we drop Keaton off first and Lexi comes in his room too. Her job is to carry the bottles in and give it to the teachers. She takes this job very seriously! Then she directs me where to put Keaton at...in the Bumbo, jumper, or laying on the floor. Then I give him a kiss and she does the same and says "Bye brother, love you." It's too cute!
When we pick the kids up, we used to get Keaton first and then go into Lexi's room. All the other kids in her room would gather around Keaton and Lexi would create an invisible barrier around him blocking the other kids from touching him. If they got to close she'd push them back and say "My baby." We now get Lexi first :-)
Another thing she says if Keaton ever starts to fuss is: "It's okay brother. I know. Sissy's right here." She also talks to him in a sing-song voice, imitating the way I talk to him sometimes. For example, she'll say "Hiiiiii brother" in a really high pitch voice!
Shopper Already
Anyone that knows me knows that I am a big shopper! Well I guess Lexi has already inherited that trait. Whenever we are at the store and she wants something she'll say "I wanna buy it. Let's go pay for it." LOL!
Mini-Me
As much as I hate to admit it, Lexi is spitting image of me, good and bad! I was describing her frustrating behavior to Brian and he was just grinning from ear to ear because I was basically describing myself!
Big Girl Bed
In February last year we moved Lexi from the crib to a toddler bed. She was starting to outgrow the toddler bed so it was time to move her into a bigger bed. I wanted to get her a full size so she could use it longer. I found this awesome bunk bed online and thought it would be perfect for her! I got it all assembled last week and she loves it! She has done great sleeping in it!
Other quotes/antics
Lately when Lexi wants to ask questions she phrases them in a statement. For example, "I can give this to Keaton?" "I can have this?" It sounds much cuter in person!
Barbie-Q: This is what Lexi calls Barbies. It started about a year ago when she learned the word barbecue as in barbecue sauce. Then somehow when we were talking about her Barbie she turned it into Barbie-Q. And she still to this day calls them that! There's a show on Nickelodeon in the mornings called the Winks and it's basically an animated show with Barbie-looking girls. Lexi will come in our room saying she wants to watch Barbie-Q!
"I'm too shy": Lexi is really anti-social to people that she doesn't know...to the point that it's really embarrassing. Sometimes she's this way even to people she does know. One day we asked her if she wanted to go play with the neighbor kids and she said "no, I'm too shy." Then another day I asked if she was going to bring her Barbie into school to show her friends and her response was also, "no, I'm too shy." I don't know where she comes up with this stuff!
"For a minute": This has been a frequent phrase of her lately. For example, "you can hold this for a minute?"
"Poor Oscar"
"cuse us" or "scoot": When she wants you to get out of the way.
"You go cook": The other day I was telling her not to do something and she commanded me to go away by saying "No! You go cook!" Then a few days later Brian was telling her not to do something and she said "No Daddy! You go watch basketball!"
"Thanks for coming over and seeing my house." She said this the other day when we getting ready to leave my Mom's apartment.
"That was fun wasn't it?"
"Fine, whatever you want." This was said tonight and it was just impossible to not laugh!
